There are plenty of art galleries for everyone in Penzance, housing a number of important collections of art works, preserved for generations to come. A major centre for local arts, culture and heritage, the Penlee House Gallery and Museum can be found in a historic house built in the mid-19th century. Many impressive collections of art works are displayed here, including pieces owned by local councils and also the Newlyn School of Painting. The gallery features many temporary exhibitions, which are changed on a regular basis, while the actual museum here spans more than 6,000 years of Cornish history and features a host of photographs from the 19th century onwards. Also available at this Penzance museum and gallery, the Orangery Café is a popular place to take a break and features outdoor tables overlooking the gardens. A gift shop completes your visit and boasts a selection of prints, souvenirs and books.

'Round the Bend' features an interesting collection of modern mechanical gadgets and toys, fun cartoon drawings and unusual contemporary sculptures, made from various mediums. Many of the displays and art works at 'Round the Bend' are inspired by engineering and you are encouraged to pull the levers, wind the cranks and push the buttons.
